Nygaard Again Linked Sun 10th Jun 2001 14:20
The Danish press continue to link Town with a move for midfielder Marc Nygaard. The midfielder, who currently plays in Holland with JC Roda Kerkrade, is in dispute with his club, however they are reported to have dropped their asking price from £10 million to £4 million and are talking to an unnamed Premiership club. Town are the name being touted.
Signing Possibly Next Week Sat 09th Jun 2001 12:22
Town boss George Burley has said that a new midfielder could be on their way to Portman Road, possibly by the middle of next week. The identity remains a mystery but several names immediately spring to mind as possibilities. It is not thought this player is the Third Division youngster targeted last week.
Burley Refutes Tomasson Link Fri 08th Jun 2001 10:26
George Burley has said he is not after Feyenoord's Danish attacking midfielder Jon Dahl Tomasson. However, he did admit he was watching the Danish side playing in Copenhagen on Wednesday, so it does seem one Dane or other was interesting him. The Town boss, though said he was not going to take this interest any further at present.
Tomasson Target Thu 07th Jun 2001 12:30
As reported in a number of places yesterday George Burley was in Copenhagen last night to watch Denmark beat Malta 2-1. It seems his target was neither Marc Nygaard or Martin Jorgensen who have been widely linked recently. Chief Scout Colin Suggett and European Scout Romeo Zondervan are also thought to have been in attendance.
Burley Rules Out More Names Wed 06th Jun 2001 15:45
George Burley has ruled out the link with Nottingham Forest's David Prutton and a number of the other players who have been mentioned in connection with Town.
Midfielder Bid Fails Tue 05th Jun 2001 13:11
Town have failed in their bid to bring in a midfielder, identity as yet unknown. However, the Town boss did give a clue to who this player is.
Nygaard the Man Sat 02nd Jun 2001 14:52
Further information suggests that contrary to earlier reports Marc Nygaard is in fact an attacking midfielder and not a striker. Sources had suggested to TWTD earlier in the week that George Burley was targeting a player from the continent and Nygaard seems to be just the kind of player George Burley would target.
Derby 1 - 1 Town Sat 19th May 2001 18:22
Another last day of the season decider and again other sides failed to do Town a favour. As with Wolves and Blackburn on the last day of the last two seasons both Charlton and Leicester failed to take points from Liverpool and Leeds. Unlike on those occasions Town failed to fulfil their side of the bargain, only managing a draw with Derby.
Another Norwegian Linked Fri 04th May 2001 10:44
Town have been linked with Norwegian striker Thorstein Helstad from Brann Bergen. Apparently Town scouts watched the striker play against Stromsgodset on Wednesday (the same night as they are also reported to have watched Magne Hoseth play elsewhere in Norway) and if they were there they couldn't have failed to be impressed.
Burley on Injuries and Charlton Thu 26th Apr 2001 16:20
Richard Wright will be back in training tomorrow, but George Burley insists he will not be pushed too quickly. The Town keeper missed out against Coventry with a back injury, but has been improving all week.
